Six Months, Ten Challenges

To prepare for the Swiss Alpine Ultramarathon at the end of July we are aiming to complete ten extreme challenges in six months, just to make sure we're up to the task of 50 miles over the mountains.

So after finishing Tough Guy at the end of January, our challenges for the first six months of 2011 are:

  • Thames Trot - 50 miles along the Thames Path from Oxford to Henley
  • Steyning Stinger - trail marathon over the South Downs
  • Sussex Marathon - lots of steep hills along the lanes around Battle
  • Exmoor Coastal Trail Marathon - a really tough one up and down the seaside cliffs
  • Compton Downland 40 - a hilly trail of 40 miles around the Ridgeway
  • North Dorset Village Marathon - another hilly one around country lanes
  • Shakespeare Marathon - slightly hilly road marathon, our 4th marathon in 4 weeks
  • Blenheim Triathlon - with hills, and we can't swim or ride a bike!
  • Cheltenham Circular Challenge - trail marathon over the hills
  • Zermatt Marathon - tough one up the ski slopes, but just for training this time

After that lot we'll either be ready for the Swiss Alpine K78, or have given up running.
